Your appointment

Most of our appointments are now face-to-face but you can request a telephone consultation if you prefer for simple things like test results.

There may be occasions when a GP feels that a telephone consultation is not appropriate, for example if they feel they may need to examine you or if they feel a face-to-face appointment may be more appropriate.

Please note that the Clinician only has a 10-minute appointment to:

  • Obtain a history from you.
  • Examine you if needed.
  • Decide on the best course of action with you.
  • Follow-up any tasks from that consultation

Therefore, and for your safety, 1 appointment is for 1 problem only.  If you wish to discuss 2 problems, then please let the care-navigation staff know when booking your appointment so they can decide if they need to allocate you more time.

If you have more than 2 problems, then you may need to book a further routine appointment for your less urgent problems to be dealt with.

However you choose to contact us, appointments are available:

  • Face-to-face
  • By telephone
  • By Video Call
  • By you contacting us online

Cancelling or changing an appointment

To cancel your appointment:

  • use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
  • using the GP online system – Patient Access
  • phone us on 01606 544744, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm
  • reply CANCEL to your appointment reminder text message

Extended Access

Extended Hours appointments are offered on a Tuesday and Wednesday evening from 6.30 – 8.00pm with the Nurse and the Pharmacist.

Please contact reception for further information on this service or to book an Extended Access appointment.

Hub appointments are also available on Friday evenings and Saturdays. To book an appointment at the Hub, please contact the surgery on 01606 544744.

Home visits

Home Visits are for patients who are seriously ill or housebound and can not get to the surgery.

Requests for home visits should be made before 10am and preferably as soon after 8am as possible.

Please note that a GP may not be the most appropriate person to visit. Your visit request will be triaged, and it may be an advanced care practitioner from the Rapid Response Team who visits.
