NHS Community Pharmacist Consultation Service (CPCS)

There is now a Community Pharmacist Consultation Service up and running and your GP Surgery is able to refer directly into the service. A referral is sent to your chosen Pharmacy, provided they offer that service and the Pharmacist there will call you back within 2 hours.

In the first instance the following can be sent to the Community Pharmacy (CPCS) Service:

  • Athlete’s Foot
  • Bites/Stings
  • Constipation
  • Conjunctivitis (over 2yrs)
  • Cuts/Sprains (minor)
  • Cystitis
  • Dermatitis
  • Diarrhoea (over 2yrs)
  • Dry/Sore Eyes
  • Eczema
  • Fungal Infection
  • Hay Fever
  • Headache
  • Head Lice
  • Haemorrhoids/Piles
  • Indigestion/Infant Colic
  • Influenza
  • Insect Bites
  • Mouth Ulcers
  • Oral Thrush
  • Sore Throat
  • Styes
  • Threadworm
  • Thrush
  • Vaginal Discharge
  • Vaginal Itch/Soreness
  • Verrucae and Warts
  • Vomiting and Nausea
  • Wound Problems

The Pharmacy Minor Ailments Scheme can also deal with some of these problems.

– Gynae/Thrush
– Hayfever/Allergy
– Pain
– Skin Conditions
– Swelling
– Throat/Mouth problems

The above conditions cannot be treated by the Pharmacy if they have been ongoing for 3+ weeks, they are severe or urgent, or if you have tried self-care and it has not worked. Also, patients who are suffering from Shortness of Breath/are Pregnant or Diabetic are not suitable for the CPCS service.
